Align Capital Partners’ (“ACP”) utility intelligence platform, E Source, has acquired Baton Rouge-based UtiliWorks Consulting (“UtiliWorks” or the “Company”). UtiliWorks is an advisory firm that partners with water, electric, and gas utilities and municipalities; specifically in the areas of advanced metering infrastructure (“AMI”), smart energy, smart water, and smart city initiatives. Its expertise lies in the areas of technology assessment, business case development, vendor selection, implementation oversight, and stakeholder education.
The Company partners with utilities to advance business and technology solutions to strategically enhance utility operations. “UtiliWorks’ unparalleled expertise in helping utilities select the right technology for their specific needs and maximizing the value of that investment is a perfect complement to E Source’s consulting solutions,” said Dale Pennington, CEO of UtiliWorks. “We’re excited to work with a team that clearly aligns with our values and focus on customer success.”
E Source works with thousands of utility employees and senior leaders across the U.S. and Canada, arming them with the knowledge, guidance, and best practices they need to adapt to the ever-changing business and market conditions. “Our acquisition of UtiliWorks will allow us to provide an even richer offering in the area of technology implementation and optimization consulting in the utility and municipal space,” said E Source CEO Wayne Greenberg.
ACP acquired E Source in June of 2019 and UtiliWorks marks the platform’s second add-on acquisition. Together, UtiliWorks and E Source help utilities and cities solve some of their most complex problems by leveraging data and decades of experience. “UtiliWorks is a natural extension of E Source’s service offering and meaningfully expands the platform’s power-centric customer base into water utilities,” said Rob Langley, ACP Managing Partner. “Acquiring UtiliWorks enhances E Source’s market position as a thought leader and high-quality utility solutions provider, and extends E Source’s service offering through more tactical solutions.”
The Company will continue to operate under the name UtiliWorks as the AMI and smart city consulting division of E Source. Operating Partner Dave Perotti, Vice President Matt Iodice, and Associate Corey Roe worked alongside Mr. Langley on the transaction.
